The gainers on Sensex and Nifty were Axis Bank surge 3%. IndusInd Bank and Bajaj Finance gain 2% each.

The Indian equity indices ended nearly 1% higher led by Axis Bank and HDFC.

Finally, the BSE Sensex ended 515.31 points higher to 59,332.60 points, while CNX Nifty gained by 124.25 points to 17,659.00 points.
