US Markets end higher

Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 199.37 points or 0.59 percent to 33,745.69, while Nasdaq added 1.11 points or 0.01 percent to 11,146.06.

Asian markets are trading mostly in red  as China’s central bank kept its benchmark lending rates, on hold - in line with expectations.

The US markets ended higher led by gains in defensive shares.

Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 199.37 points or 0.59 percent to 33,745.69, while Nasdaq added 1.11 points or 0.01 percent to 11,146.06.

S&P 500 was up by 18.78 points 0.48 percent to 3,965.34.
